History
Brewing commenced in 1750. The brewery was acquired by Charringtons in 1966 and brewing ceased at this site in 1974. However, the brand was resurrected in the 1990s initially brewed at Heritage Brewing Company and then at Tower Brewery.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
