History
Brewing commenced in about 1750 in Haslemere, Surrey. Moved to Salisbury in 1858. Stopped brewing in 1997, its beers for a time being brewed by Hall & Woodhouse Ltd and Ushers of Trowbridge PLC. The last remaining Gibbs Mew beer left in production was brewed at Refresh UK Ltd.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
