History
Formed in April 2008 following the acquisition of Scottish Courage Limited. The cask ale brewery Caledonian Brewing Company Ltd was owned, along with John Smith's Brewery and the large keg-only factory of Heineken Manchester Brewery.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
