History
Using the location previously used by The Rat & Ratchet Brewery, the Rat brewery opened in August 2011 brewing on a 6BBL plant supplied by PBC Brewery Installations Ltd. It is owned by The Ossett Brewing Company Limited along with Riverhead Brewery Ltd and Fernandes Brewery.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
