History
Brewing commenced in November 1990. Initially a 5BBL plant was used but over the years capacity has been expanded several times and the plant is now 30BBL. The brewery uses its own springwater, drawn from the head of the River Otter, hence the name of the brewery.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
