History
Opened by The Whitbread Beer Company in 1982, this malt extract brewpub was famous for brewing the strongest beer in Britain, Roger and Out at 16.5%. Brewing was sporadic for several years but finally ceased by 2006.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
