History
Founded in 1877, this brewery was taken over by Thomas Hoskin in 1906. During the 1980s it changed hands several times. Purchased by Archers The Brewers Ltd during the early part of 2000 with production transferred to Swindon. Following the failure of Burns Leisure in late 2001, the brand ceased to exist.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
