History
Having sold Abbey Brewery, the owner relocated and restarted brewing as Cropton Brewery in October 1984 based in the cellars of the New Inn, Cropton. A 5BBL plant was used. A new brewery was opened in 1996 at the above address in a purpose-built building on a farm behind the pub. This has allowed significant expansion of production. The brewery changed hands in 2012 and changed its name to Great Yorkshire Brewery. It changed its name one more time in late 2020.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
