History
John Eastwood, the former brewer of Eastwood's Brewery, started brewing at the Barge & Barrel pub (formerly Dusty Millers) towards the end of 1998. In April 2002, following the takeover of the owning pub company, John Eastwood helped set up Elland Brewery Limited but brewing still took place at the Barge & Barrel. The brewery closed in about 2004, reopened in 2013 but finally closed in early 2015.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
