History
Started brewing in 1895, but brewing ceased just before World War II. It continued to sell beer brewed elsewhere until its takeover by Allied Breweries in 1972. A beer branded to be from this brewery was produced until the 1990s at Allied's Burton-on-Trent plant.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries.
