History
Started brewing in September 1991 following the closure of the original Burts & Co. using the name Island Brewery. It was owned by Hartridges, a Hampshire-based soft drinks manufacturer, and based in their Newport depot. Initially, a 5BBL plant was used, but over time this was added to provide a 25BBL capacity. They changed their name to the above in 1993. In Summer 1996, a separate brewpub was opened under the name Burts (Sandown Brewery) Ltd and by late 1996 all production was transferred there and the Newport site closed down.

Since the 1974 local government reorganisation there has been much controversy over many county boundaries. The links we provide cover all areas possibilities: Ceremonial Counties which are the counties for which a Lord-Lieutenant has been appointed, Historic Counties (and their allied county boroughs) which represent the position before the 1974 re-organisation and Local Authority which represents the third tear District level.
